Families who attended the 2nd Annual Family Retreat gave their experience two thumbs up! The retreat--which sold out almost immediately--was a "very special learning experience" and "so inspirational," according to participants who filled out a post-retreat evaluation. Highlights included: - Levar Johnson, former Duke University football player, talked about being a champion with type 1 diabetes. He was "positive, entertaining, and funny," and attendees are "looking forward to seeing him again."
Chris Smith, the Diabetic Chef, was "great fun!" Diagnosed with type 1 in 1993, Chris has merged his personal experience of having diabetes with his professional experience of being a chef. He's dedicated to helping those who are seeking a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their families. Go to www.TheDiabeticChef.com to order his cookbooks, Cooking with the Diabetic Chef and The Diabetic Chef's Year-Round Cookbook. - Research updates with the latest information on the artificial pancreas were deemed "excellent."
